Melissa’s guest episode for Pillow takes listeners through an exploration of all five of the senses, sight, touch, smell, taste and hearing encouraging being present and mindful of the connection between partners.
“Experimenting with the five senses builds on the key components of a relationship such as trust and communication, and can explore new ways to be playful and fun with your partner!”
As a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and owner of Risso Counseling, Melissa works with individuals and couples to reach their fullest potential in health, relationships, and sex. She finds it honorable that clients entrust their deepest concerns with her, and she has even been voted as the San Francisco Bay Area leader for the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors & Therapists (AASECT). Melissa’s latest project is her podcast, “Let’s Do it with Melissa Risso,” which aims to help promote positive conversations around both mental and sexual health.
Melissa received her master’s degree in counseling psychology with a health emphasis from Santa Clara University, and her bachelor’s degree from UCLA. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Human Sexuality from the California Institute of Integral Studies located in San Francisco, CA.
Kate and Melissa talked across the Atlantic from London to San Fran, battling timezones and busy diaries, to discuss how they could make a sensual and intimate Pillow Play episode that could awaken the senses of the user. The result is Melissa’s tantalizing journey through each of the senses — Sensual Senses.
